Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to express my sincere interest in a Software Engineer position with your organization. As a Computer Science student at Western Governors University with a growing portfolio of technical projects and a background that has consistently demanded leadership, adaptability, and a commitment to doing right by the people around me, I believe I bring both the skills and the character that strong engineering teams look for.
What draws me to software engineering is not just the scale of the problems great teams solve — it is the culture of intellectual curiosity and collaborative problem-solving that the best engineering organizations are built on. I am the kind of person who cannot walk past an unanswered question. Whether I am studying database normalization at midnight or architecting a multi-agent enterprise AI platform — CeREbrus, which I built solo and deployed live during a hackathon using Google's Agent Development Kit and Gemini — I am always pushing to understand systems more deeply and build things that actually matter to real people.
My path to software engineering is not traditional, and I believe that is an asset. I spent several years as a Construction Foreman at KS Pro Painters LLC, where I managed crews of up to eight people across high-stakes commercial projects. That experience taught me how to communicate clearly under pressure, make fast decisions with incomplete information, and earn the trust of a team — skills that are just as valuable in a daily standup as they are on a job site. More recently, as a trail guide at Chattahoochee Dog Hikes, I have continued sharpening my ability to collaborate, stay calm in dynamic situations, and remain focused on the safety and well-being of those in my care.
From a technical standpoint, I am actively developing expertise in Python, JavaScript, React, SQL, and REST APIs, with hands-on experience deploying applications to cloud platforms. I am particularly passionate about the intersection of artificial intelligence and user experience — building tools that feel intuitive and that genuinely improve how people interact with data and with each other.
I am not simply looking for a job. I am looking to contribute to a team of people who care deeply about what they build, learn from each other every day, and hold themselves to a standard that makes the work worthwhile. I am confident that I will bring that same energy and commitment from day one.
